Nutrinova Inc., the American affiliate of Germany-based Nutrinova Nutrition Specialties & Food Ingredients
GmbH in Frankfurt, has recently joined the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism Progam (C-TPAT).
C-TPAT is a voluntary government business initiative in the US designed
to build cooperative relationships in order to strengthen overall supply chain and improve border security.
C-TPAT
certification requires uniformly high security standards along the entire transport chain. Producers,
forwarders and trading companies can participate in this program. In order to be C-TPAT certified, each
company must demonstrate that high security standards are in place in all its processes, including any
steps before and after transportation.
“The C-TPAT certification is
an important cornerstone in Nutrinova’s Global Food Safety and Security Initiative. It enhances security
standards over our complete supply chain and emphasizes Nutrinova’s leading position as the experienced
and reliable partner for food ingredients”, said Inken Lasar, Risk Manager at Nutrinova.
By
signing the C-TPAT agreement, Nutrinova Inc. undertakes to guarantee security along the entire supply
chain through to delivery to the consignee in the USA. Nutrinova’s security procedures include self-assessment
tests and ensure strict adherence to all US guidelines. Furthermore, C-TPAT participants must review
their security processes, particularly with regard to protecting buildings against unlawful entry and
prohibiting unauthorised access to their facilities.
Participating companies
can expect expedited processing of their cargo into the USA and fewer shipment inspections. US Customs
will also keep participants updated with the latest information, e.g. on legal developments.
