Paris, France, 24 March 2009 – Celanese Emulsion Polymers exhibited
its broad range of synthetic and natural polymers at the JEC show in Paris. Under the business’ slogan, “Your Future is Our Focus…Worldwide”, the international
group highlighted their expertise in the areas of glass fiber sizings, the production of chopped strand
mats (CSM) and secondary binder applications such as tissues, wall coverings and scrims. Celanese also showcased its new line of natural starches for the glass fiber yarns called JetSize™.
According
to Paolo Bavaj, global manager for the glass fiber segment, Celanese Emulsions relies upon the combination
of its products and applications knowledge to solve customers’ toughest issues. “The Celanese technical specialists are equipped with a perfect mix of time-tested products, new innovations
and industry expertise to assist our customers in meeting their needs today and in the future,” said
Bavaj. “In addition, our global technical team is regionally-based to best serve the local producers as well
as the multi-national customers, regardless of their present location or their future destination,”
he said. Celanese Emulsions has sales and manufacturing located across Europe, the Americas and Asia, and technology
centers in Frankfurt, Germany, Shanghai, China and Houston, Texas.
New starch line optimizes glass fiber yarn production
Celanese highlighted JetSize™, a new line of natural polymer starches designed to optimize
the production of glass fiber yarns, according to Bavaj. “The JetSize line was developed for glass fiber yarn production for use in high-speed weaving applications.
JetSize starches offer good film formation providing high tensile strength,” said Bavaj.
In addition, JetSize starches feature low ash content for low conductivity
and they are easy to process. JetSize starches are offered for both pressure cooking and atmospheric cooking processes to ensure their
success across a wide range of manufacturing environments. The primary end-use application for JetSize starches is electronic circuit boards, however, glass textiles
with yarns sized with JetSize can also be used in construction fabrics such as wall covering, insect
screening, cement board reinforcement and construction projects for tunnels and roads.
“At Celanese Emulsions, our slogan is far more than words, our binders,
starches and technological solutions are designed to drive value into our customers’ products; we measure
our success by their achievements in the marketplace”, said Bavaj. “In these turbulent economic times, our focus is on the future of the glass fiber industry and assisting
our customers to ensure their long-range success,” he said.
